‘African dream’ album to be launched

International musician, Sia Tolno has joined the Premier Media Consultancy in Freetown and said she was committed to changing the negative perception of Sierra Leone held by many in outside of the country.
“African Dream album is intended to allay the fear of bloody war and to present the real beauty of Africa” she said.
Doing this would not only re-brand the image of the country to the rest of the world, but would also attract substantial development.  For example, many investors who would have otherwise stayed away might be attracted by Africa’s music, and would subsequently come and invest in the continent, giving the economy a much needed boost.
Tolno, a Kissi, was born and received her early education in Sierra Leone. She traveled with her father to Guinea prior to the rebel war and learned French.  Since then, she has pursued a career in music and has excelled in Guinea, France and other Western nations.
While in Guinea, Tolno said she was sponsored to participate in a musical festival in France.
“I did well and I was spotted by a prominent producer who is known for producing African musicians in Europe and America,” she said. 
The musician said she went through a traumatic period in Sierra Leone, due to a family misunderstanding.
“But my talent was well tapped in Guinea, where I was picked up by another producer,” she said. 
Tolno said that she was just coming from France before joining Premier Media Consultancy, and she will travel back to France in less than two months to build upon her music career.
She said she spent roughly 13 years working on her first album “The Voice of the Forest.”
The album has been praised by Sierra Leonean refugees displaced in Guinea for reflecting upon their experiences. 
She used the proceeds of that album to support some Sierra Leonean refugees in Guinea, providing them with food, medicine and agricultural tools.
The director of Premier Media, Dr. Julius Spencer, said that their objective is to promote Sierra Leonean talents. With Sia Tolno, they are going to show the world that she is a Sierra Leonean who has excelled herself to an international level.
